gabi's halloween party

have you tried this new gum?
you should!

gabi and i have only had the key lime pie flavor, and what an experience.  pop it in your mouth and chew......first comes the taste of the pie filling, then comes the crust and finally the whipped cream.......

willy wonka would give these treats a thumbs up...

gabrielle's biography tea....

while the rest of the school is having their class halloween parties, each year the fifth graders enjoy a biography tea.  they have spent the last month reading, researching, illustrating and writing about a famous person of their own choosing.
today, they dressed up and presented their findings in a poem dedicated to their character during a candlelight ceremony.  Gabi chose to study...........

the gifted, talented, beautiful and beloved audrey hepburn
the paparazzi are
following you
audrey.....
thank you for all
the jewels, grandma
audrey among the rich or famous , laura ingalls wilder
and steve martin....

after the ceremony, the students were treated to a delicious afternoon tea.
(i stayed up late the night before making 65
jam thumbprint cookies)
the classroom was transformed!  desks were replaced with white linen covered tables, tea cups and centerpieces....
what a fun afternoon, audrey
i've always wanted to meet
you....
photo taken from fairview high school

i had to leave the ceremony early because 2 fires have been burning in boulder canyon since this morning and an evacuation of a small portion of boulder has just been ordered.  i am the president of our church's women's organization so i had to make sure all of our church families in the evacuation area are informed and have a place to go.  one young family stayed with us for the afternoon.
poor boulder is still recovering from the devastating fires in september!

afterschool......

gabi's halloween party
witch's broom party bags

each year
, gabi invites a few fun girl friends over
for a festive halloween get together....
we served sticky, caramel apples and fresh, apple cider.....
 we made halloween charm bracelets....

and dodged spooky spider webs.....

we played
gruesome games....

gross, black cat brains!
we went bobbing for apples........
and played doughnuts on a string....
thanks for coming girls, you are so fun!!!

sab and ben were around too,

then sab left for a halloween barn dance......

and ben headed off with friends to a haunted house....

  1. Janet, you make me tired just reading about all of your activities. There must be more hours in the day in Boulder than anywhere else in the world!
