weekend happenings

we have friendly, feathered friends visit boulder, arriving at about this time each year.  flocks and fields of beautiful, honking canadian geese make their winter home here, finding it a balmy and comfortable destination compared to their northern, native residence.....

for a welcomed change, we all spent friday evening together at:

bensebastian and gabrielle's choirs were performing altogether.....

at fairview.....

the mesa elementary m&m's choir sang:
zum gali gali, an israeli folk song and
siyahumba, a south african folksong
excalibur sang:
ain't that a kick in the head
chivalry sang:
sinner man, a traditional
african-american spiritual
voices of the knight sang:
an absolutely beautiful rendition of
carol of the bells

for the finale,
the mass ensemble sang:
acquarius/let the sun shine in

it was a fabulous concert!!

on saturday morning, we went
to a festive christmas pancake breakfast
at our church....

what a fun morning eating
chocolate chip pancakes with
homemade raspberry syrup, bacon
fresh fruitorange juice
 and hot chocolate.....

chatting and playing around
with our friends.....

and singing christmas carols
together to our heart's content......

the choir wreaths are here.....

sebastian put a lot of time into advertising and selling fresh christmas wreaths this past fall for the fairview choir fundraiser....
his choir won the prize for most wreaths sold!! well done, choir president!

we collected the wreaths from the delivery truck, added the velvety red bows, turned on the christmas carol radio station and off we went to hand deliver the wreaths to all of his customers....

mmmmmm, my car smells divine!

now we know what a florist feels like.....
everyone was so happy to see sebastian and get their beautiful wreaths......

fairview football banquet:

we attended ben's football banquet......

it was wonderful to acknowledge and celebrate all the players and coaches in this fantastic football program but...

it went on for five hours......

they served a beautiful cake to refresh everyone
at half time - go knights!
then back to watch season highlights and
hand out awards......

our gifted and talented,
and very humble son
was awarded:

varsity offensive mvp

as well as 5A all-conference
first team
running back

  dear ben
we are so proud of you here at the end of this football season and recognize the months and months of commitment, hard work, endurance, pain, sacrifice, focus and positive, level-headed attitude that you have shown through the ups and downs of this year.  you are such a quiet, shining example to so many who look to you and these qualities you exemplify, yet hold so humbly.  it is something wonderful to be given natural gifts and abilities but to acknowledge these and commit yourself to appreciating and developing them further is to possess a sparkle of greatness.  well done, our dear son.  you could not have two more gratified fans in your cheering section.
we love you dearly,  mom and dad
