after a very intense decision-making process,
ben has signed at a university.
he will be going here
at the beginning of the process, ben said he wanted to use his athletic
skills to get him into a school that would provide a great education.
ben, i think you have made a very wise choice.
many factors have made this a very lengthy and complicated decision.
he had offers from:
ivy league, d1, d2 and d3 schools
both private and public
large and small
costing $$$$$$ and $
offering $$$$$$ and no $
located
east, northeast, pacific northwest, west and midwest
with some wanting him for
football
others wanting him for
track
and others offering a spot on both their
track and football teams.
his decision to go to mines also included making the decision to study engineering,
as mines is devoted to engineering and applied science.
this complicated the matter even more.......
tough decisions at age 18
the athletic side of ben's decision to sign with mines enables him to
run track next year
and play football - he will red shirt the first year
"school of mines, they always get the good ones....."
quote from a disappointed coach (at a different university) that phoned last night
"it's not often that a local talent with that speed comes knocking on the door...
even more so however, i enjoyed our visit back in the fall and felt good about ben's attitude as well as your support through his college search process; these things don't go unnoticed here and are more of an attraction than marks and performances."
