valentine's day

language of love...

margo's

oh, mom...andrew was amazing.  he took me to a restaurant called communal.
they serve only one thing to everyone and you all sit at the same table.  its in provo
but felt like we had stepped into new york.
there were no students in sight.  only married 50-something year olds talking
about vacations to hawaii........

around margo's neck, she's wearing a heart locket i gave to her on valentine's day
nine or ten years ago.  pictures of her and i are hidden inside.  i love you.

nicole's

bordeux is hard to believe, eerily beautiful with the old, stone facades in every direction, stumbling onto churches around every corner.  today however, we are spending valentine's day in Barcelona!! we ran for the train in the pouring rain at 4:00 in the morning from laurent's because there were no buses that early.  i love seeing cities at 4 am though, totally empty, cold and clear.  the spanish riviera was the most beautiful countryside i've ever seen. huge open salt flats and windy cypress in blaring bright sun stucco and old churches and castles and forts on every hill tumbling down the vineyards into a windy, navy, white waving ocean. bright spanish laundry flapping on lines and balconies in all directions

when we got to barcelona we immediately went to the gaudi cathedral... another alien, jaw dropping sight. then we wandered around the gothic corner, dipping churros into thick bitter hot chocolate. we are having such a surreal time--barcelona is so fun for max because its featured in like every skateboarding video, so he recognizes practically every bench in the city. Tomorrow we head to madrid for 3 nights. I'll send a more detailed email when we settle in there. just wanted to say hi and that our        experiences across europe are completely indescribable

lots of love, Nicole

    2. Oh Margo! It isn't a competition. I was completely enthralled at the lovely loving you are both having. YOU have photos and what divine ones they are.
