i decided that i wanted to do some sort of hand embroidery project this summer.
i love handiwork.
i love the focus and concentration it takes and how it marks time.
i love that it makes me sit and be still.
i mostly love the sense of accomplishment when the beautiful piece is finished.
well, today it is finished.
with autumn's colors and coolness arriving, i took a few minutes today to
embroider the last lucious lemony yellows of this satisfying summer project, aptly named
summer flowers.
i ordered the embroidery pattern from sarah jane's website here.
sarah jane is a tremendously talented children's illustrator. she is fun, creative and very clever.
i love the style of her illustrations - fresh, classic and happy.
at starting this small but involved project, i hoped that it would make me
slow down and sit down. but, what really happened was that it entertained me during our
many trips to utah this summer and that is ok.
the best part of it all was that it also brought back many memories of sunny summers with each of
