as i mentioned in the previous post, nearly everyone was away over the weekend: m&a off to santa fe and gabi up in the mountains snowboarding with a friend. ben was away too. he flew to duke from byu to surprise emma for valentine's day.
do i have the most romantic boys or what?
it was a holiday on monday, washington's birthday or president's day, so paul had the day off. hooray! he was traveling all week so it was so nice to spend some time together. sebastian had all day rehearsals for pops (yep, it's that time of year again - more to come) so it was just paul and i, with our faithful companion, that decided to drive up to lyons, co and hike for the afternoon. but first, paul wanted to show me this precious church he passed once on a bike ride and knew i would love to see. it was built by swedish immigrants long ago, settling on the plains of colorado. it is so humbly and simply built. so beautiful, it touched my innermost heartstrings.
i wanted to get married again, but here. oh, and to the same guy. this same romantic guy that loves me so much he drive miles out of the way to show me a little church that he knew would fill my heart with joy.
i love you, pgm.
our hike turned out to have a few exciting adventures like an iced over waterfall which was actually the path and remains of homesteaders that lived in these high mountain meadows long ago. there's a story of a lonely old woman homesteader choosing to live up here for 15 years. she would make the same trek we took - a good 3 miles out - carrying her eggs and cream to the highway, hoping to catch a ride into town to sell her wares.
