outdoor kitchen project

i haven't shared any of the outdoor kitchen project with you yet.
for the past 3 weeks we've had a lot going on in the back yard!!

it all started with an idea, "let's serve brick oven pizza at m&a's wedding reception."
which turned into, "let's build our own pizza oven."
which grew into, "while we're at it, why don't we build an outdoor kitchen."
then, "we'll need a patio for an outdoor table."
which finally included, "wouldn't a gas fire pit be awesome!"

so, the clever and so-easy-to-work-with crew at don king landscaping
is creating our pergola shaded outdoor kitchen complete with pizza oven,
patio and fire pit with stone seating project.

this is what's been happening.......

"before" photo..

the crew first came in and cleared the property of dead branches etc.
and brought in a chipper to make mulch.

next, they cleared, prepped and set the concrete forms for the kitchen, fire pit and patio area
and new sidewalk along the stream.  the trampoline now has a new, shady spot.

next came the "big pour" day!

what a production to watch!
this newly home from college trio has also been working
hard around here.  they've been scraping, painting, gardening etc. etc.

madame has loved all the action.

there are some real characters on the crew.
they make me laugh all the time and i can't even speak spanish!

the concrete stampers were right behind the concrete pourers.
release is tossed onto the wet concrete before it is stamped and adds a gorgeous finish.

alex and logan seated at hq.
they are the designers of the project and
so great to work with.

today, cinder blocks are being set for the base of the fire pit seating and walls of the kitchen.
now you are all up to date.

take a minute and check out the change in the foilage!
three weeks ago, there wasn't a hint of green on the trees and now look!
we are all loving it.
