church bbq

we hosted a church bbq at our house recently.  i was so glad to be sharing this fun space with so many friends.  it was a breeze too.  everyone brought side dishes and desserts and the men barbequed hamburgers and hot dogs and cleaned up!  so all i had to do was tidy up the garden a bit beforehand. oh, and take the last of the wedding decorations down!  yes, hundreds of paper origami cranes were still hanging from the trees.  none of us have had the heart to take them down as they took months to fold and string and a couple more days to hang.  but, i have to admit that they were looking a bit worse for wear after rain storms, scorching sun and windy days.  they are now a happy memory.

at the bbq, i loved watching the littlies explore the stream and ponds slowly putting feet in, then legs, then tummies, then what the heck....start swimming!  one little boy found a snake skin and carried it around with him the whole night.  the tweens spent the evening jumping on the tramp and the teenagers just hung out together and laughed and joked and ate and ate.  what a fun summer this has been. so many memories of happy times with family, friends and each other.
