arches and capitol reef national parks

i hope you had a wonderful long weekend here in the u.s.a.  they just never seem long enough, y'know?  gabi was invited for a weekend away with a friend and her family (material for another post :) so paul and i decided to take a weekend away as well.  we packed up camping gear and all that and headed southwest to utah's arches and capitol reef national parks.

first arches........so beautiful, so many colors, such blue skies...........it takes your breath away.

this area of the park is called park avenue, a trail of straight sided rocks reminiscent of tall, city buildings.

the famous delicate arch (just left of center)

the magnificence of the boundless towering dry red rocks with snowy mountains for a back drop is unforgettable.

after a full and amazing day, we headed out of arches and west towards capitol reef about two and a half hours away.  look who met us there.............

our boys!!!  ben and sab rode their motorcycles from provo, utah loaded with their camping gear and we spent the rest of the weekend together.

what more could i have wished for than to spend valentine's day with the three men i love most?  lucky, lucky.

this was the morning view paul and i awoke to from inside our tent.

we also awoke to strange sounds from not too far away..........wild turkeys!

after a hearty breakfast, it was time to explore and discover capitol reef together.

there are accessible petroglyphs in capitol reef.

wow, it was too beautiful for dad and i to have spent the weekend with you, ben and sab.
off you go and happy trails.....
