goodbye age, hello excal

today is the last day of school. it is always a whirlwind of activity leading up to the school year finale: studying, projects, studying, choir auditions, studying, grad parties, studying, recitals, studying, finals, as well as the end of year spring choir concert.

gabi was a member of two choirs this year. in the first half of the show, the all girls select choir, enchantment, performed five beautiful pieces: truth, lineage, the roof, they're red hot and rise up. gabi accompanied the choir for the piece, rise up by batie, decilveo. go gabi!

to open the second half of the show, age fairview's small, elite women's jazz choir, performed five energetic pieces: chicago, lady lee, nature boy, kinder and bottom of the river. these extremely gifted singers have enjoyed this tremendous group experience this year performing around the country, creating close friendships and giving encouraging support to each other. age, thank you for sharing your talents and unique group gift to all of us, your fans.

to close the concert, age of guinevere and excalibur choirs joined to perform hallelujah, i love him so. what a treat to hear these two top choirs sing together. high energy!
excalibur, affectionately known as "excal", is a select mixed jazz choir consisting of upper classmen. they cover a variety of styles including jazz, pop, and musical theatre, occasionally incorporating choreography. gabi auditioned for excal last week and was wishing and hoping to earn a spot in this extremely popular and respected choir. well early this morning, her wish came true........

it is tradition for graduating excal choir members to surprise and kidnap next year's chosen excal choir members early in the morning on the last day of school. so at 6:30am, unsuspecting and comfortably sleeping gabi got a loud, frightening but very happy surprise! music blaring, mask wearing excal graduates woke, blindfolded and whisked her away for breakfast to join the rest of the new, bewildered but excited 2017 - 2018 excalibur choir members! congratulations gabi!
