margo and andrew recently moved to houston and by sheer luck, they are feeling, positioned themselves high and dry and safe amidst the rising waters, danger and chaos hurricane harvey has caused in this enormous city. i asked margo to send me a photo today to show me she, andrew and nigel were safe. thank you, my darling. they have heard rescue helicopters 24 hours a day for days working among the neighborhoods around them and the large highway next to where they live is completely submerged. margo and andrew went out to buy more food today but the grocery store line was out the door and around the block. instead, they went to the only other open store, wine and fine foods, and came out with cheese, crackers and and european chocolate to put on their pantry shelves ;) with all of the shocking and devastating images we've seen on tv, i am grateful to also know of the help and support descending on this terribly affected part of our country. i know of two e.r. doctors from denver that left to help and support groups all over denver metro area are organizing fundraising efforts for the many, many who are wanting to do something to help from here. heartwarming. our country absolutely does know how to come together with love, care and support for each other.
our friends' son was married this past weekend and generously invited paul and i to attend. they are an adorable country loving couple and held their ceremony and reception at a ranch up in cheyenne, wyoming. it was wonderful and so much fun. wearing my black, silver-toed cowboy boots and a surplus of turquoise jewelry, we headed due north an hour or so through open plains. buffalo greeted us on our arrival and before we knew it we entered a cowboy, ranching, down to earth culture so different from boulder i could hardly take it all in. a refreshing change. the festive evening of line dancing, sunflowers and lace, country music, cowboy hats galore and down home texas bar-b-que made the whoop, whooping farewell to the couple come all too soon. much obliged, matt and stacy.
i have a hefty hanging bookcase at my desk overflowing with resources, classic children's books, vintage toys, cutlery, games and a myriad of other items that hold significant meaning and pull at my heartstrings. it is a collection of inspiration for a project i have been working on for over twelve years. in a nutshell, i have been developing a preschool curriculum for parents and caregivers to nurture and teach their little ones at home. i've been able to spend a lot more time on goldendays nursery school these past couple of years and am now in editing and photography mode. i will keep in touch sharing what comes next with this lifelong meaningful project.
