vacation end

last days of summer break, school begins this week, the beginning of a school year of lasts. our last child is beginning her first day of the last year of high school. sigh. this is going to be tough. but hey, it is all good. very good. what a beautiful summer break it has been. we have been in a comfortable, casual summer routine naturally evolving into morning walks with roxy and wanderings in the garden sparking ideas for dinner including an exclusively-from-the-garden-tossed-salad and zucchini bread to save and share. we've made weekly boating excursions to boulder rez, most recently with gabi and friends aboard. paul and i have kept up our weekly long lunch break hikes and gabi has hosted lunch picnics in the garden near the butterfly bush doing its thing. i have been busy sewing mismatched linen duvet covers for the twin beds in a guest room. linen duvet covers number six and seven with three more planned for the near future. obsessed? yes. love, love them. gabi has been nannying two adorable brothers just down the road, bouncing from their house to ours throughout the days. summer is closing, change is coming and all is well. very well.
