autumn

autumn, i look forward to it every spring, summer, winter and now that we are in the thick of it, it is just as i dreamed it to be. it's my favorite season of the year. autumn is rejuvenating, it's calming, it's comfortable and it's romantic.
so, paul and i are nearly three months into this empty nester lifestyle thing and i think we're getting the hang of it. not to say that it isn't strange to continually have an open schedule to the week and be uninterrupted throughout the day, to cook only two servings and vacuum only a few rooms. we're also living in a strangely tidy house, everything stays in its place. weird.
on weekends, we continually have the back and forth simple conversation, wearing quizzical faces,  "you mean we can do anything we want to do? we don't have to be back for..........nor organize with.........to.........?" weird.
so, we've been hiking at dinner time, spending full saturdays at rocky mountain national park to fish and explore, biking, one of my favorites was a 23 mile ride to and from the pumpkin patch, stopping here and there, cooking whatever we want to and working in the garden from sunup to sundown, by choice!
we miss our kids, no doubt about it, but we are so happy they are out doing their thing and now we're learning how to do ours. love, love you guys.

p.s. i have been so very anxious to share sebastian and madison's september wedding with you. we are patiently, patiently awaiting the photographer's sab and maddie portfolio and will post it as soon as possible. i've seen some teasers and all i can say is........breathtakingly beautiful!! look for it soon.
