each may or early june, i plant a sunflower house - a large rectangle foundation of sunflower and morning glory seeds. it takes an entire summer to build the house with nature's architect hard at work. as the sun seeking, tall and lanky stalks stretch heavenward, the morning glory vines attach, twist and twine their way up the towering stems creating the walls of the house. by the middle of summer, the bright and wide sunflower heads open to create a shady roof from the hot afternoon sun. what a lovely, cool spot. welcome, come on in........
this photo is four weeks under construction.
i planted zucchini in front of the sunflower house this year, friendly neighbors.
we get many visitors to the house throughout the summer months.
finally, now that summer is fading and september has arrived, the heavy heads bear ripe and ready sunflower seeds enticing our bird and squirrel neighbors back for a visit.
help yourselves.....
have a lovely weekend.
Absolutely beautiful. I think i am going to try and do the same.
