birthday snow

our first snow has arrived, six inches of it, and it makes things just beautiful 'round here.

the day before it's arrival, we were basking in 80 degree weather.
the next thing we know we're catching snowflakes on our tongues.

and in the early morning hours, paul is awakened by the familiar and forgotten routine of the lawn sprinklers turning on and must groggily unearth boots, a hat and gloves to head outside and turn them off for the winter.
oh colorado, you're a tease.

yesterday was also paul's birthday. happy birthday, my darling.
we braved icy roads for a celebratory dinner in south boulder and then on to
an entertaining "knight of jazz" at fairview high school.

this year, gabi is in the fairview women's jazz choir, age of guinevere, affectionately known as "age".
these girls are all such talented singers and had the audience mesmerized with their jazzy renditions of
goodbye yellow brick road, rolling in the deep and many more.

gabi, what a memorable singing birthday gift for your dad.....

have a lovely weekend.
