margo and nicole threw gabi and oscar an engagement party. the venue was set at grandma and grandpa's house in provo, utah so grandma mervyl could be there close to all of the food, fun, family and festivities. grandma suffered a stroke in late february which has left her with less strength than she has always had.
margo sent invitations to all meyer and reiche family members in the surrounding area, as well as oscar's mom, dad, brothers and sister. a grand gathering of grandma's, grandpa, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and and cousins came. (our families have no problem making a full, fun crowd of 40) nicole flew in from Los Angeles which was just about as wonderful as the party as we hadn't been able to be with her since the before the beginning of COVID. i just couldn't get enough of seeing and being with her again. all is well except having ben and kensey with us. (we will see them soon)
nicole was in charge of decorations and food. she had 40+ peach tissue pom poms delivered to poof out and hang all around grandma and grandpa's garden. it was a flowery wonderland which had the bees quite confused!! And her food ideas were magnificent!! - a vegetarian charcuterie board, the size of a door, (literally) and a chia seed pudding with fresh strawberries and chocolate filling grandma mervyl's forever family trifle bowl, once again.
the girls spent the morning at the farmer's market collecting the most exotic and beautiful produce available. sebastian provided a door and we all set to work prepping the fruits, vegetables, nuts and dips. we set up the door/plate on grandma's dining room table and got to work arranging the bounty into a gastronomical masterpiece. the men then gently and carefully set the oversized charcuterie board outside for the party to begin!! help yourselves everyone, don't be shy!

margo asks questions such as: "gabi and oscar, which one of you is the better driver?"
oscar and gabi each raise the shoe in the air belonging to their answer to the question (they can't see the other's answer)
it's fun, it's actually hilarious and often quite revealing!
along with the invitation, the guests were sent a recipe card and asked to fill it out with a tried and true favorite, family recipe for the couple. the recipe cards were collected into a recipe file box and presented to gabi and oscar with love and best wishes from everyone.
it was a fantastic evening and family time together with love and best wishes for the engaged couple!
