happy birthday, alisa

it's my sister's birthday today

sometimes i feel spoiled to have her living so close by
but mostly i feel lucky

sometimes i feel spoiled just to have a sister

we were the only females in a litter of six

my sister is a wonderful cook

she's also the wonderful mother of my 2 little guinea pig 

preschool students, lila and ryan

alisa and i were majorly obsessed martha stewart fans for years

we can both boast of having the complete collection 

of martha stewart living magazines dating from 1997 - 2008, martha stewart kids and special issues too

that is probably a total of 100 lbs. of martha weighing down 

our bookcases

we are pretty much over her now, but i thought a martha

revisit was just about right for this birthday

soooooo....

i headed off to the martha stewart section 

of our local macy's department store

and found......

a martha stewart silpat (everyone needs one, believe me)

a pretty, limited edition 2010 pedestal cake stand

a set of flour sack dish towels (i used one to tie everything together)

and the october issue of martha stewart living

all topped off with some autumn touches from the garden

(how martha is that?)

happy birthday afternoon, dear sister......

al fresco lunch

at modmarket

then shopping....

people tell us we have the same mannerisms,
we also have the same feet,
except alisa's are smaller, even though she's taller.

hey, we should have added a
pedicure to our afternoon!
