post-op

i love this time of year, the air is crisp, our sweaters are on and the wind is blowing a collage of color across the garden,  we are having a wonderfully long autumn - luckily the valleys dodged the latest snow storm.

update:
(gma and gpa left the mountains early and before the storm. they are safe and snug at home again.)

we had to cut down a few old cottonwood trees last year beside the deck, so now we have a woody squirrel table.  this furry friend,  local resident and roxy's nemesis, has just finished this morning's breakfast of stale bagels.

l & r wanted to help uncle paul clear out the leaves in the stream during preschool today...

x-rays from the dr. visit

at the post-op appt. today, the dr. removed ben's padding and splint. he was finally able to see his stitches - 32 in all, 12 along the incision on the top of his arm and 20 along the lower incision.  they removed all those stitches as well - ouch!  he also saw the first x-rays of the hardware...

check it out......

the dr. put him in a cast for 2 days until his appt. with the physio. ben requested the cast instead of another splint so that he can put his shirt and tux jacket on for his show choir performances the next two nights (go glee). he's only been able to put t-shirts over the splint - it was so bulky.
the physio will remove the cast and form a custom, removable splint for the remainder of the time and also start physical therapy
he wasn't even able to straighten his arm when they took the splint off :(

the cast

meet roxy's boyfriend......his name is butch, our friend rick the builder's chessie....
roxy is absolutely in love with him, in fact this is the only dog she likes in the whole world - you meanie.  we are a family of dog lovers except for her!

gabi got hold of my i-phone and downloaded a halloween costume app.

the family room rug is often
 used as a gymnastic mat....
dance floor......
and performance stage.

extravaganza......

the first choir performances of the year are on tonight....
we have tickets for tomorrow night's performance
(more photos coming!)

who could resist a quick photo op. with these handsome devils...
