island tour

another day in paradise...

gabi and i thought we would give you a tour today.

we will start with a tour of
the tastes of kaua'i

at the top of our road, we are lucky enough to have
duane's ono char-burger

ono means "tastes the best!"

i didn't try an ono burger, but i definitely had an

ono tuna salad sandwich!!!

saimin is a very hawaiian dish -
noodles, fish broth, vegetables and ????
we found the
ono saimin restaurant
it was very fun because you never know who you will be sharing your table with!

we've been driving past
bubba burgers
for days...

we just had to stop for lunch and sit out on the lanai across from the beach and watch the world go by.....

ok, gabi and i have decided that
shave ice
is our favorite hawaiian food so far.....

it tastes like
a flavored rainbow fell into a snow cloud

we've also had some beautiful food cooked at home....
green salads, shrimp, paw paw, mango, so many colors on our plates......

next we'll tour
some of the many things to do on the island of kaua'i.....

at home

yoga in the mornings

walks on the beach

snorkeling, lots of snorkeling

skimmer boarding

napping, lots of napping

in town

you can rent cool bikes

and ride along the beach

for miles.

you can visit the local
blow hole.

around the island...

you can head south and visit the waterfall

ben, sab and paul hiked down a treacherous path to swim at the bottom...

or kauai's grand canyon

called waimea canyon...

and many other amazingly spectacular views....

there is a mountain on kaua'i that is one of the wettest places on earth.
it seems to always be covered in a cloud.....

further south there is 17 mile beach.

i loved visiting the light house.

i have some sort of romantic fixation with lighthouses and instantly become all dreamy
when i am around them.

it's just so beautiful here........

next, we'll head north to

tunnels
that is the name of this beach.

the two ends of the island are dramatically different.  the south is dry and the north is jungle-like.

we found a dry cave to explore.

well, we hope you enjoyed our tour of the island today.
mahalo!
