i can hardly say it, but good bye kaua'i.....
our last hawaiian sunrise,
we are off to catch our plane to oahu.
mahalo kaua'i.
your gift of beauty, peace and tranquility will be treasured as we remember this magical time.
aloha oahu!
we are spending the entire day on the island of oahu before we
board our flight home tonight.
first stop.....
pearl harbor
paul and sebastian love history, museums, battles and heroes.
they are going to love this day!
what a beautiful site.
the museums are amazing and so very moving.
before boarding the boat to take us to the actual memorial building
erected over the remains of the sunken USS Arizona,
visitors witness a memorable film reminding and teaching us
of how, what and why this attack on pearl harbor occurred.
magnificent battleships in the harbor.
one feels very patriotic with all the american flags flying.
so much to think about, so much to ponder.
one feels a reverence for all those who's lives were sacrificed
on december 7, 1941.
we will all remember this visit.
after a quick stop at waikiki beach, we spent the rest of the afternoon
driving along the east coast of oahu.
we ended at laie and visited byu hawaii
and the hawaii temple.
we needed one more hawaii swim so headed to
hukilau beach in laie.
savoring the last bit of sun, sand and surf.
our last hawaiian sunset.
aloha, to one beautiful vacation.
i can't say more, or i'll cry!
hours in the plane, a quick layover in snowy aspen dressed in our flip flops and shorts......
btw, have you ever been on a los angeles to aspen flight? i think they are often jam packed with the rich and famous. because ours was. for instance this celebrity couple was flying with us......
and then a safe landing in denver!!!!
mahalo, guys - i had so much fun with you - i just want to go back and do it all again!!!
You made such good use of your eleven hours on Oahu. Pearl Harbour, the Temple, Wakiki Beach.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks like such fun.
We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on Tuesday night with Bill and Jonathan. That was our ending and it was almost as good.
Your photos are magnificent.
I feel as if I was on that island tour with you.
