memorial day weekend

it's memorial day weekend.  we will start off this long weekend with an outdoor breakfast with friends...

then back home and into the garden.  we've got to get things planted today before we leave for the week.

roxy girl loves it when we are all outside.....

in go my herb seedlings.  good luck, little fellas.  i'm hoping for some beautiful basil for bruschetta.

then sunday afternoon we headed up the mountains and hit snow!!

destination..............

we're here!  steamboat springs. so beautiful, so peaceful, i'm already relaxing.

grandpa and paul were tempted to test out the steamy sulphur springs......
doesn't smell too good.

check out the rise of the stream.  we have had so much precipitation, there is a definite chance for some dangerous flooding in the next couple of weeks.  apparently, the snow melt hasn't even begun.....

check out the kayaker.  he's taking off from the flooded bike path.

we found the most gorgeous old schoolhouse.
they make my heart flutter.

the aspen forests are absolutely gorgeous.
i love it here!!  just look at the landscapes.

this is what the fire hydrants look like up here......
hoisted 3 feet from the ground with a another 3 foot marker so they can be located in the snow!

there is so much to do up here even though it is a most popular winter destination.
we hiked up to the falls.

the falls are just thundering down the mountain!
then we took a very pedestrian chair lift up to.......

 the alpine slide.

looks like ben beat you, paul!

here come grandpa, sebastian and gabi!

we ended this fantastic day driving up the mountain to strawberry park hot springs.....
what a cool place.

steamy stud!

our change room was a teepee!

 thanks guys...
unfotunately, paul and the boys have to go back down to boulder for work and football in the morning.
gabi and i are staying all week with grandpa
then margo will join us later in the week.
wish we could all spend the whole time together!!!

  1. What a wonderful place for a spring/summer short vacation.
I do love a HOT SPRINGS destination.
Glenwood is my current favourite but these
surroundings are so rural and besutiful.
You have had a good start to the year with your two get- a- ways.
So happy that Margo is able to spend some days with you as well.
    Love to Harris.
