i don't know if it shows but this girl is feeling very rested and relaxed.
it is a rocky mountain paradise up here. the sky is so blue and the air so fresh.
i'm doing all those things that real life doesn't leave time for,
sleeping in, watching old black and white movies late into the night,
long, soaking baths,
days full of uninterrupted time with my baby girl,
long, gentle walks with my dad and
lazing around in pajamas until lunch.....
glorious!
we also packed up a lunch for a sunny picnic which was one thing on gabi's list of things to do.
then off to putt putt golf.
gabi and i did our best but were no match for grandpa the golfer
who scored 3 holes in one!
we spent the evening at the local fishin' hole.
i love that gabi is fishing with her 81 year old fit and happy grandpa.
i am sure she will look back and treasure this special time with him.
i wish you could see this girl cast!
she can't wait to show her dad. truly, she is amazing!
there is so much to do in "the boat" as the locals call steamboat springs.
even though we are between seasons and often finding ourselves all alone as we tour around.
we walked from our condo to the wetlands across the road.
flowers, birds and swiftly flowing water.
i didn't want to leave.
steamboat has a very rich history as we discovered at the local museum.
winter sports, mining, ranching, hot springs etc.
one of the first settlers named this area for the sound a local hot spring made......
a chugging sound like a steamboat.
bet you didn't know that! i didn't.
we walked main street and came across a
corner drugstore with an old fashioned soda fountain.
so we just had to grab a bar stool and order a fountain drink.
we listened to grandpa reminisce of his soda fountain days......
i can't get enough of this type of nostalgia!
and here is some more..........
i am enraptured by vintage signs and am constantly adding them to my photo collection.
once they are gone, they are gone.
how beautiful are these signs along main street, steamboat?
another day in mountain paradise coming to a close.
but not before another card game with grandpa, the ultimate gamer!
I knew where Steamboat Springs got it's name from - I read the sign in your previous 'post.'
