state semi finals

it was the colorado state semi finals for track today.

ben's 100m was scheduled for 8:30 this morning 

so we were off to denver much earlier than that for warm ups.

the pressure build up for state has been intense around here.

for ben's focus and commitment, he should be given a gold medal.

it has been a tough season for him with injuries and other obstacles as well as

the expectations from last year's results as a sophomore which were....

5th in state for 100m

6th in state for 200m

he had a very proud cheering section up there in the stands,

just wanting him to do the best he could do today.

gabi even missed school to cheer on her talented brother.

and auntie zita couldn't get enough of the competition.

the butterflies in my stomach were in full flight,

i can't even imagine how ben deals with the pressure.

from here, you'll just have to imagine the race - 

there was no way i was going to watch it through a lense........

after the race.  ben came 13th out of the 2 heats and did not qualify for finals.

and to tell you the truth, he was more than thrilled this race and season were finally over.

and there is a smile on his face that i haven't seen for weeks.

i am so so proud of you ben for seeing this season through to the end and overcoming so

many obstacles set before you.  to even qualify for state this year should make you feel

successful and proud.
