autumn is here

3 days a week poor gabrielle has to carry 2 backpacks.

afterschool, she and her teammates walk to their soccer practice just down the hill.

what a workout!

roxy and i walk gabi to the bus stop each morning.

rox always snacks on the berries while we wait.

autumn arrived today

the first hints of autumn appeared today.

it is drizzly with a shroud of low hanging clouds over the mountains

and the towering cottonwoods have dropped their golden tips.

i have to pick them up and play with them because

 i love all there is about this sweatery, soup weather.......

except my sunflowers are sad...

and my dog smells........well, like wet dog.

take a peak..........look what's happening in our pumpkin patch.

this birthday keeps on going...

i love it!

i went out to a belated birthday lunch with two of my adorable friends who share the 

same birthday month with me.  

jill has an orchard and brought us each a brown paper bag filled with

sweet italian prune plums. 

besides being beautiful, they taste divine!

cathy, the third of our trio, and i are self-confessed book snobs.

we exclusively read classics or victorian/late victorian literature.

(i am reading the harry potter series at the moment.  

but that was as a request from my kids.  ok, i'll confess again, i am loving it!)

she kitted me out with a winter's worth of glorious reads.

wilkie collins, mary elizabeth braddon.........dreamy.
