i was away in maryland for the weekend.
i headed back to my hometown for a
"let's all celebrate turning 50 party"
with my favorite high school buddies.
the best choice of friends to celebrate momentous bdays with, hands down!
three of my high school buds live here in colorado,
so we headed back east together,
first congregating at the house of
my jr. & sr. high school bff,
steph
in annapolis, md
forever the gracious hostess, her "spa" home was filled with delicious eats
and gorgeous flowers like this bowl of pearly hydrangeas displayed
on a distressed, copper tabletop.
after heartfelt hugs, incessant chatter and continuous catch-ups,
we headed to potomac, our 'hood and our alma mater.......

finding the front doors unlocked, we couldn't resist a wander through the halls
of our newly renovated high school commenting on all
the amazing updates and fancy additions.
we found the gym and were elated to discover that they had preserved the original
wood floors complete with our beloved mascot
churchill, the bulldog!
i remember leading many a cheer right here.
just look at these gorgeous 1979 graduates,
even if we do say so ourselves.....
ruth, sitting next to me, and i have been friends since we were 6 years old.

the next morning,
(after putting on our cute sandals)
we headed to rockville, md.
we have a classmate who died on september 11, 2001
and we wanted to remember and acknowledge
on this, the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
a memorial garden was erected at courthouse square
with benches for the 11 residents of
montgomery county who died that day.

later in the afternoon, john and andrea invited us over
to their gorgeous house in rural maryland.
liz gasps, "is this monticello?"
with the classic maryland views of rolling, green hills.
thanks andrea and john for graciously opening your lovely home to us all.
with this wonderful weekend coming to a close,
we made our way back to annapolis.
stephanie made reservations for us, her landlocked colorado friends,
to enjoy a divine seafood dinner on the water.
thank you my dear, dear friends.
i truly enjoyed every minute of our time together and appreciate what amazing
women and men you have each become.
I acknowledge how you have touched my life for good, all through the years.
I can still remember your high school cheerleader song that you sang for us I think it was... P-O-T-O-M-A-C
