i felt like baking up some banana bread with
the browning bananas in the fruit bowl. my favorite recipe makes 3 loaves
so i gave two away to happy friends. i must be over all the thanksgiving baking
because i really enjoyed the whole process. especially devouring the warm slices spread
with creamily, melting, buttery, sweet butter.
i used up the thyme in last night's spaghetti bolognese sauce. yum.
i think lamb needs to be on the menu for sunday rubbed with fresh rosemary.
gabi's winter ballet concert dress rehearsal is this afternoon and i still have
some major construction work to do on her dress. so, i'd better go. but before i do, i want to share a quote that i recently saw and appreciated.......
"I plead with you not to let those most important things pass you by
as you plan for that illusive and non-existent future when
you will have time to do all that you want to do.
Instead, find joy in the journey-now." - Thomas Monson
i have been so "there" in the past and needed to hear this wisdom. it is true, so very true.
over the years, i have made a commitment to myself to be deliberate in my actions.
to fight the forces that set me on the crest of a wave heading who knows where!
consciously commit to what i am doing at the moment in the moment:
for instance,
that precious time in the car with my kids all to myself - turn off the radio and listen to them.
when i'm cooking - awaken my senses and savor how to most enjoy the process
in a yoga session - quietly focus and stop making mental lists of what i need to do when it is over -
grrr! hate when i do that.
when i am working - forgo all distractions and get lost in the creative process.
............to name just a few.
little kids are experts at this - it just comes naturally.
little kids are experts at this - it just comes naturally.
when i do this right and fully and get lost in the moment, i realize later how much
inspiration and life happened. i love, love, love it.
try it, you'll like it too.
