dave

i repotted some plants today that were definitely needing more leg room.
in january, plants seem to be relaxing and laying low just like people.
so it's a good time to give them a little, gentle attention.
lately, i'm finding that i am able to add more small, quiet projects like this into my life.
it seems that for so many years i was just keeping my head above water
with the basic demands
of a fairly large family with very little time for the little things that didn't make quite as much noise for attention.  not that i would change things as they were over the past twenty years, i've loved the hustle, bustle, crazy, bordering out of control pace we've lived but it's just so enjoyable to realize that the quiet tasks are making themselves known and getting the attention they need.

cook's illustrated oatmeal crumble muffins.  mmm, mmm.

meet dave.
margo brought home this fascinating little creature from work to stay for the night.
then she left to sing in a gospel choir..... (never a dull moment when margo's around)

dave is the most entertainingly hilarious, poodly, ballerina, monkey or seahorse like critter with a mr. t haircut that i've ever met.  he spends half of his waking hours on two legs, arms outstretched!
roxy is not impressed.
