zucchini cake with a friend

a friend of 30 years phoned paul and i last week to let us know he was going to be in town for the weekend.  we've only seen geoff, a chicago based architect, a handful of times since our days together in cape town.  so, we were very excited for this chance to see him again.  since these autumn days have been g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s, we decided to make brick oven pizza, eat outside and catch up.  i made a chocolate zucchini cake for dessert (another indulgence from my cakes pinterest board). i was able to squeeze in 6 cups of grated zucchini into this rich and moist cake which enables me to officially declare a last hurrah to this season's zucchini harvest!  hooray!
