each november these big & beautiful canadian geese, following the central flyway with endpoints of canada and mexico, decide they've flown south far enough and boulder is where they'll spend the winter. about this time of year, while unfeathered friends are dreaming of destinations further south, these beauties are thinking bright and balmy boulder is a winter's paradise. they truly are a seasonal spectacle here as flocks are attracted to and take over the lakes, golf courses, fields and prairies throughout and about the city. it is not uncommon to be driving through town and have to stop and wait for a flock to nonchalantly cross the road. we love them and since they keep their annual visit, they seem to like us too.
