April's Tussle

i wouldn't call it a tug of war, perhaps more of a vigorous tussle. 

but it is a regular event scheduled each april with winter and spring headlining as rival forces.

tentative tulips and daffodils expose themselves, confused robins warily build their nests and excited, tight buds hesitate to burst.

below freezing temps and snow one day, muddy, bright and breezy the next, back and forth, 

back and forth, back and forth they go......

and today, at 41°.......i'd have to call it a draw as thick rain or maybe it's a slushy snow

falls from a low, gray sky.  this anxious chick is cheering for spring.
