Agra, India

back for a night in delhi, then we began the first leg of our road trip (with a driver, again highly recommended) around india's golden triangle: delhi to agra to jaipur back to delhi.

3 1/2 hours drive............passed many brick factories.........camel drawn carts...............hand harvested fields of wheat...........busy villages.............left hand traffic.............lentils.............cows.............more cows............monkeys.............bicycle rickshaws............roadside barbershops........given drinks and cool washcloths to refresh ourselves on our arrival..................gentle, peaceful people..........bazaars.....met our guide (made all the difference during our experience in india).....the great gate.........the magnifient taj mahal..........romantic.............one of the seven wonders of the world.......feel so lucky to be here.......breathtaking.......distraught shah jahan commissioned 
the mausoleum for his beloved wife who died after complications with the birth of their fourteenth child.........magestic..........colorful saris.........white marble..........copious amounts of inlaid precious and semi-precious jewels...........on the river yamuna.......incredible craftsmanship.......moonlight garden.......towers are undergoing every-10-years-marble-whitening maintenance ritual with clay mask.......sacred cows.......last look..........festival of colors eve...........cow paddy fueled holiday celebratory bonfires.......goats........on to agra fort where shah jahan's son had him incarcerated ...........luxurious............with a tower view of the taj mahal


stayed the night in agra and then on to the next leg of the golden triangle........to jaipur.
