Senior Year Homecoming

margo and sebastian were both here visiting for a few days. it was so nice to mother thrice for awhile. they gave the piano a good workout, which is music to my ears (lame comment, janet), went fishing, willingly worked in the garden alongside me and paul and margo treated us all to her pear and almond tart, a delicious celebration of autumn. they also spent loads of brother/sister time with gabi including supporting her as she proudly sang the national anthem opening fairview high school's varsity girls' homecoming volleyball game. gabi also asked margo the photographer to produce and direct her senior portrait photo shoot - gorgeous photos i will share another time! (huge thank you's from me too, margo ;)
saturday evening we hosted this year's hors d'oeuvres and homecoming photos event for gabi's friends, their dates and parents to gather for this traditional fun photo op. gabi was mason's date for his school's homecoming earlier this fall and mason was gabi's date for her school's homecoming. the party bus eventually arrived and picked up the kids to head out for a memorable senior fairview high school homecoming night. it was great to have so many people over, i think there were nearly a hundred, but i have to admit this running succession of lasts including this one, our last child's last high school homecoming dance, is tearing at my heartstrings. chin up janet, it's all good.
i love my husband and kids, they are so game. i suggested we all spend an afternoon at their favorite pumpkin patch, a childhood tradition, and they were all for it. besides the fun of choosing pumpkins, enjoying the crisp air, running corn mazes and visiting the petting zoo, they ran into their elementary school p.e. teacher. thanks for indulging me in family memories guys. to end the visit, there is nothing better than a sunday lunch altogether enjoying paul's smoked chicken and vegetables and the last of the homegrown rhubarb in a strawberry rhubarb crumble. thanks for the visit, margo and sebastian. i miss you already.
