our sunflower house is in bloom
and it's magnificent.
this is the second year that we have planted a sunflower house.
directions:
- in the spring, plant giant sunflower seeds along the perimeter of a 12 X 6 foot rectangle
- plant morning glory seeds alongside sunflower seeds
- as the sunflower stalks grow, the morning glory vines twine their way around the stalks
designing flowery walls
- the huge golden sunflower heads create a ceiling above the shady, dirt floor
it's a cool, hidden hideaway in which to pass the last of these
hot summer afternoons
