today is ben's birthday! he wanted to celebrate with a birthday dinner inviting friends over and making calzones in the new pizza oven. good idea! so we set up a picnic of sorts down by the outdoor kitchen and had fun enjoying this beautiful summer's day. ben isn't a big fan of sweets and cakes so we got clever and made him a gorgeous birthday fruit salad. emma made such an effort for him filling the entire day with activities intermingled with opening 20 presents for this 20th birthday. the very full agenda started with a stair running workout at red rocks amphitheater, followed by a picnic and long bike ride. this evening, we gathered friends and what family is here - gabi is away at camp, margo and andrew are still on their honeymoon and nicole and max are back in l.a. we miss each of you!! we are slowly getting used to the idea that things are going to become very quiet around here. not so sure i'm going to like it so i'm savoring every moment we have together today. happy birthday, ben!
