garden to table - backyard grape jelly

we have grapes galore this year hanging from the backyard arbor and
they are absolutely gorgeous.  it feels quite luxurious to pick a bunch while lazing
on a cushioned deck lounge in the sun.  fan please..........

even though they are white grapes and not concord, i thought i would try
making grape jelly.  why not give it a go?!
this was last year's jelly making venture.

let's get started....  i filled overfilled two buckets with the help of a friend,
referred to my trusty ball blue book of preserving, followed this
step by step recipe and filled two entire afternoons making
these sparkling and bejewelled, golden white jars of jelly.
you fellow canners out there, how gloriously comforting is the
sound of that "click".  mmmm, mmmm!

*grape jelly anyone?

*real life: when the jars finally cooled, it turned out that none of the jelly set. i cried. grape syrup anyone?

remembering:

well, that was yesterday.  today, we woke up to our first snow!
september 12th also marks the anniversary of the day we awoke to the september flood.
give me an early snow surprise any morning!
boulder/much of colorado is very aware, revisiting, discussing, checking in and
checking up on continued flood restoration efforts.  just this week, our neighborhood
had a large drainage pipe installed to control future floodwaters and a
washed away asphault intersection resurfaced.  hooray!  it's been a sore reminder every day.
out and about and up canyons there are still residents waiting to return to their homes.
may your life soon return to familiar.  blessings.

  2. Me too. I have never tasted it. Margo will have to come back and fetch hers. It was lovely having her and Tony with us all. Thanks again for the photos Janet.
